For me, the first invokes intelligence, sophistication and an educated Italian gentleman.

The second is a Mafia thug from Brooklyn.

You can't tell me that names don't have an influence when someone reads a resume.

Generally speaking, The Big Sexy thinks The United States is a better place for integrating cultures than France, or the UK for that matter. Two of the largest US states are now white minority - California and Texas.

The uk has had enormous success with huge settlements from the west indias and India settling and intergrating very well, Indeed the national health service is virtually run by Indians.
The problem we and the French have had is we open our arms to large numbers of Muslims invite them to settle inour country, But they do not want to intergrate, Indeed some even want to blow us up.
We are not an islamic state, we are not Kosovo, Afganistan or Iran We are Great Britain a Christian faith country, By all means come to our country, But things will change, its give and take,It cant be all take. If that means a headress has to be taken off in school, so be it.

Reguardsless, criminal activity is never going to make their lives any better and more people will look down at them becuase of this.
Nothing good will come from these acts of violence and destruction.

All they've done is vindicate that those who stereotype them.

What's your point? Most of the names on your list struck me as old-fashioned. Some Southern, some mid-western.

I'd find it odd that a just-out-of-college kid might be named Elmer, but not because there's anything wrong with the name. I simply identify it with past generations.

Sean Pa, we have enough of a Muslim population in this country that we aren't allowed to use "Christmas" to describe that holiday on 12/25. Stores have "holiday sales" and children have "winter vacations". Mention of Ramadam is permitted and encouraged.

The muslim population in this country is still small, but it is booming.

Contrary to what Gail says about not being allowed to use "Christmas". One can go on just about any of the major retailers' web sites, and yes, it will describe "holiday" sales, but it's not because they "aren't allowed" to use Christmas.

The Big Sexy isn't quite sure what gae has against the free market economy, where a retailer tries to appeal to the greatest number of consumers possible.

For example, when Macy's advertises "holiday attire," should that be limited to just Christmas? Maybe gae can wear that dress for her big New Year's bash. Or when she goes to her friend's Chanukah gathering. Or the neighborhood Kwaanza celebration. Or when the lesbians across the street invite her over to celebrate the winter solstice.

Of course, there are millions of people who celebrate Christmas just because they like all the trappings of it, but don't give a rat's ass about Jesus. The Big Sexy knows that's true.

So let's give the retailers some credit for understanding their audience and not criticize them for adjusting accordingly.
